Eugene, Prince of Savoy, French-born Austrian soldier, c1820. Regarded as one of the outstanding military strategists of his time, in the War of the Spanish Succession Eugene of Savoy (1663-1736) was one of the allied commanders supporting John Churchill, Duke of Marlborough (1650-1722) with whom he participated in the victory at Blenheim. He also fought against the Turks, notably taking Belgrade from them in 1718, and went on to become Governor of the Austrian Netherlands. This giclée print offers beautiful color accuracy on a high-quality paper (235 gsm) that is a great option for framing with its smooth, acid free surface. Giclée (French for “to spray”) is a printing process where millions of ink droplets are sprayed onto the paper’s surface creating natural color transitions.
