Dotterel eggs in a nest on the Cairngorm plateau. Dotterels (Charadrius morinellus) breed on mountain plateaus such as the Scottish highlands and the Alps. They nest in a scrape (shallow depression) and lay two to four eggs, which are speckled to camouflage them against the ground. The male dotterel is primarily responsible for incubating the eggs and looking after the chicks. Photographed in the Cairngorms National Park, Scottish Highlands, in June. This photographic print is digitally printed on archival photographic paper resulting in vivid pure color and exceptional detail that is suitable for museum or gallery display
