Colour engraved plate from Volume 6 of Pierre-Joseph Redouté's 'Les Liliacées'. This work dating from 1802-16 contains a total of 486 plates depicting plants from the Liliaceae family. Belgian born Redouté achieved success as a painter working for the French royal court tutoring Marie Antionette and later from 1798 was appointed to paint the flowers of Malmaison by Josephine Bonaparte. His famous published works also include 'Les Roses'. This giclée print offers beautiful color accuracy on a high-quality paper (235 gsm) that is a great option for framing with its smooth, acid free surface. Giclée (French for “to spray”) is a printing process where millions of ink droplets are sprayed onto the paper’s surface creating natural color transitions.
