Fall Foliage I

Enthralled with nature and humanity, Caroline Ashton’s contemporary Impressionist landscapes and figures are often drawn from a dark, soothing palette. The Texas native was raised in South America and began painting at an early age. While traveling and residing abroad, she was exposed to a broad array of fine art influences – watercolors, acrylics, oils, printmaking, and ceramics. Ashton encourages interpretive viewing of her works that suggest movement through her expert use of colors and layered images that define her style. She blocks in shapes with thin washes and layers opaque pigments for luminosity and incredible depth. Ashton enjoys the results of her creative spontaneity that is always a surprise, even to her.
