Scottish painter Jack Vettriano is a self taught artist who started his career after receiving a set of water colors from his girlfriend for his 21st birthday. Vettriano's work has been compared to painters Walter Sickert and Edward Hopper with a strong film noir influence – his work is reminiscent of movie stills, each canvas capturing an intimate, emotionally charged vignette. He was awarded an OBE for Services to the Visual Arts and was the subject of the documentary "Jack Vettriano: The People's Painter."
